How we work
Before we start.
- We talk firstAbout your hair’s history: earlier colour, bleach, henna, a box dye. Each of these changes how new colour takes.
- A strand testIn most cases we then test the colour on a strand, so we see how your hair takes it before we do the whole head.
- Pastel shadesIf your hair has been bleached a lot and you’d like a pastel shade, we tell you before we start that it may fade a little faster than other shades.

From the salon.
Which colour is right for you
We colour hair in four ways, and each one does a different job.
- All-over colourOne shade from the roots to the ends.
- Grey coverageRoots only, or the whole head if you want a change. We use permanent colour. The shade follows what you like and the colour your hair starts from: a dark colour on a dark base, a light one on a light base.
- Toner or glossChanges the tone of the colour you have, warmer or cooler. It can’t make hair lighter.
- Colour correctionFor when you want to change or even out colour that’s already in your hair.
Lighter pieces through your hair instead of one colour? Hair highlights and balayage have their own page.
What we use
What goes on your hair, and what goes on at the basin.
NIGAO
our main colour
A Thai brand.
L’Oréal
for some shades
Between NIGAO and L’Oréal, we have fashion shades in many tones.
A bond builder
in every colour
We use more than one.
Pantene
at the basin
The shampoo and conditioner we mainly wash with in the salon.
The first days
We recommend waiting about two days before your first wash. If your scalp feels uncomfortable, you can wash your hair straight away.
At home: what we recommend
For heat and a strong sun.
- Not every shower needs shampooEvery shampoo takes a little colour with it. On hot days, rinse the sweat out with water, and shampoo when your hair or scalp needs it.
- Sun fades colour tooHere UV is highest from about May through August, well into the rainy season, so the cloudy months count as well. More in our guide on colour treated hair care.
Coming in
Bring a few photos of colour you like. Allow one and a half to three hours, depending on the colour and how difficult the shade is.
For grey coverage, if you can wait, we suggest every one to two months, not more often.
