Guide

How long does rebonding last?

A rebond is permanent on the hair it treated, so that hair keeps its straight shape. New hair grows in with your natural texture, and rebonding that new growth later is called a retouch. A retouch should go on that new growth only, because treating the same hair repeatedly can break it, usually where the new growth meets hair that was treated before.

The service itself is on our hair straightening page.

Can you go back to natural hair after rebonding?

Rebonding changes the hair that is already out of your scalp. The hair that grows in afterwards has not been treated, so your natural texture comes back from the roots. To have only your natural hair again, you let it grow and have the straight length cut off over time.

How often should you have a retouch?

There is nothing to retouch until some new hair has grown in. How often you want a retouch depends on how fast your hair grows and how much of your natural texture you are happy to see at the roots.

How long does Japanese hair straightening last?

Japanese straightening works with a lotion and a hot iron. It is also permanent on the hair it treats, so it grows out the same way as a rebond.

Where you are now

If your roots have grown in and you want them straight too, a retouch is the next step. If your earlier rebond was done somewhere else, tell us what you know about it before a retouch, and read what to tell us in our guide to hair rebonding.

If you’d like to come in, you can book here.
