Highlights vs balayage

A highlight is a narrow strip of hair made lighter than the hair around it. Balayage is colour painted on, thick at the ends and thinner towards the head. We offer both, and babylights are our speciality.

How we work is on our hair highlights and balayage page.

What are babylights?

Babylights are highlights made very fine. That lets the lighter colour merge smoothly with your own hair colour, and no clear line shows as new hair grows in.

What both have in common

A toner after lightening is optional with both, and we tailor it to your wishes and your budget; our page on what a toner does explains it. What lightening does to hair is on our page about whether highlights are damaging to hair.

Which to choose

If you want light spread through your hair in fine pieces, that is babylights. If you want lighter ends with the colour thinning out towards your head, that is balayage.
